Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) provides chemical analysis services for environmental monitoring and research. Our analysis services are mainly aimed at various cooperation projects, but we also offer services to external customers. The analysis of individual samples is agreed on a case-by-case basis.
Typical matrices are different types of environmental samples, such as wastewater, surface and ground water, soil, sludge, sediment, fish and samplers. It is possible to modify the methods to meet the customer's needs (e.g. new matrices).
In order to achieve high-quality analytical results, the laboratory equipment includes:
- gas chromatography mass spectrometers (GC-FID/MS, GC-MS/MS)
- liquid chromatography mass spectrometers (LC-MS/MS)
- inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers (ICP-MS, ICP-MS/MS)
- total reflection X-Ray fluorescence spectrometer (TXRF)
The laboratory regularly participates in national and international interlaboratory comparisons.
Most of the laboratory methods are accredited (SFS-EN ISO/IEC 17025, FINAS T003) and the same level of quality control is applied in all our methods.
